With the recent problematic developments in Bali over the past years, including the few terrorist attacks, Chapelle Corby’s drug sentence, and many other controversial issues, Thailand has emerged as the new island holiday destination for many of those in the Southern Hemisphere.

Thailand boasts a bit of something for everyone. From beaches, to exotic wilderness, to big smoke filled cities, the Asian country has something to offer all tourists.

Bordered to the north by Laos and Myanmar, to the east by Laos and Cambodia, to the south by the Malaysia, and to the west by the Andaman Sea, Thailand is close to some pretty good company.

Here is a look at some of the major attractions in the popular tourist destination:

Bangkok - The capital and largest city of Thailand. It is also the country’s center of political, commercial, industrial and cultural activities.

Chiang Mai – Northern city which is home to some of the nations richest and most beautiful bush land. Some amazing wildlife and scenic backdrops.

Phuket – A popular beach city on the water of the countries south west coast. The city is known for its partying and wild nightlife.

Koh Samui – Another party location with some great mountains and beauty within the tiny island.

Koh Phangan – Better known for its full moon, and half moon, parties, but also boasts a remarkable laid back environment between these dates.
