The problem with Australia is that there is too much good in the country that often a lot of people forget what is in their own backyard.

While a truckload of locals fly overseas to exotic holiday destinations like Thailand, Fiji and Micronesia when they get some time off, they often overlook some of our own equivalents.

One of these hot spots is Marooochydore, a northern coastal town in the east coast of Queensland.

Maroochydore is situated just a couple of hours north of Brisbane and a short trip south of Noosa Heads.

As with most coastal towns north of Australia, the town is home to some amazing surf beaches and some great coastal lifestyle.

Picnic locations are a plenty, as too are great scenic beauty surrounding the town centre.

Maroochydore is home to less than 20,000 people but has a large influx of tourists all year long.

If the beaches and great lifestyle is not enough to lure you into the place, then the temperatures may just achieve that.

With an annual average of 21 degrees, Maroochydore really does define the term ‘perfect’.

Maroochydore is also a major commercial area of the Sunshine Coast with most shopping precincts located in the CDB area.

It is also home to the Sunshine Plaza shopping centre and the Sunshine Coast Airport.

Maroochydore is also a venue of major surf sport carnivals, and is a popular holiday point from which to travel the rest of Queensland, and the rest of the world who know about it!
