International holidays are back on the agenda according to full service travel agency travel.com.au, with bookings showing significant growth in the number of families opting for overseas destinations these September school holidays.

The USA, Fiji, New Zealand and Asia have been the most popular destination of choice amongst Australian travellers.

General Manager – Brand for travel.com.au, Lisa Ferrari said the airlines tactical sales enticed travellers to head overseas despite the harsh economic crisis and made international travel cheaper than it’d been in years; “Australian travellers love a bargain, and given the economic climate, it was no surprise that travellers looked for the best deals online and made choices that didn’t burst the purse strings. The United States of America has been a popular destination of choice for Aussie’s, we have seen numerous airfare sales and more direct flights to the popular route. Perpetual favourite Disneyland has never been more affordable for families and has proved to be a family hot spot for the September school holidays.”

Ferrari continues, families have also flocked to Hawaii for the school holidays, companion fares and kids flying free have boosted Hawaii’s popularity, these elements have been marketed specifically to Aussie families and travellers; “Our international neighbours, including New Zealand and the Pacific Island nations have remained as favourites for travellers.”
